What Causes Chest Pain And Excessive Sweating When Suffering From Anxiety?

I m a 20 year old female. 5 foot 6 140 pounds. Pretty active. College student. Currently taking fluvoxamine for ocd anxiety and depression. I m healthy other than that! Recently a doctor told me the chest pain and heart palpitations I feel might not be normal even thought i attributed it to acid reflux, which i have! So I got an ekg which read normal and wore a heart monitor for 24 hours which was all normal as well. I just feel weird because I have chest pain every day that sometimes radiates to my back, I sweat profusely at night, but that s the only time I really ever sweat profusely besides running, I wake up with my heart racing pretty badly and I m assuming it might be a panic attack in my sleep? I m not sure because I don t think I have panic attacks while awake....any ideas? I m just scared my hearts going to give out while I m sleeping...I literally can t sleep without this happening!

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You are 20 years old healthy female and have complaints of anxiety. You are on Fluvoxamine for OCD, anxiety and depression. Chest pains can occur with acid reflux and epigastric discomfort is a common finding in reflux. ECG came normal so heart problems can be ruled out easily. The chest pains, sweating, racing heart etc can occur due to panic attacks. You have history of anxiety disorder and panic disorder is one of co-morbid complaints in anxiety. Consult your psychiatrist for dose adjustments of Fluvoxamine. For symptomatic relief of severe episodic anxiety medicines like low dose benzodiazepines as Etizolam, Clonazepam etc can be used. These medicines help to reduce the severe symptoms of panic and help in normal functioning. Your heart problems have been ruled out and in reflux other symptoms of anxiety are not seen. In such case we are left with panic only.

Visit your psychiatrist for evaluation.
