What Causes Chest Pain And Backache After Choking Up On Food?

Hi, my husband choked on food earlier today (about 5 hrs ago). I had to perform the Heimlich maneuver until he was able to breath (a few seconds ). He now has chest and back pain. Is there anything he can do to help the pain? Maybe some specific stretching moves?

Hi mam,
This mite be just a muscular pain due to the maneuver.
Check if his breathing is fine with any increased rate of breathing.
If breathing and saturation are fine nothing to worry.
If he has discomfort in breathing you can give him a plain stem inhalation, this will soothen his throat and lungs.

Simple analgesic like paracetamol should help to relieve his pain.

If pain is persistent he needs to be examined by a doctor.

Thank u
