What Causes Chest Congestion, Headache, Runny Nose, Eye Redness And Swollen Face?

My 19 year old daughter has had symptoms of allergies for over 4 months now. She has a constant congestion, headaches, runny nose, blood shot eyes and recenty swelling in the face. She has been to the doctor and then to an allergist, both said it s allergies but the symptoms never really go away. I am very worried about her as she has never been sickly and she just can t shake this. Any ideas?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chest congestion, headache, runny nose, eye redness and swollen face which is due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat along with upper respiratory tract infection or chest infection . The symptoms can also occur due to sinusitis or allergic reaction . I would suggest you to take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan. You should take steam inhalation which will be very helpful in case of congestion . Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Get X-Ray chest done. Drink luke warm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozanges one every 4 hours is helpful. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take you take nasal decongestant sprays, antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
