What Causes Celiac Disease?

I am 73 years old. In the last year or so I have developed symptoms which, I think, may be related to celiac disease. In addition, I have discovered, by trial and error, that I have become lactose intolerant---when I take lactase prior to the consumption of dairy products the problem is under control. I have found that Beano before meals helps a bit, but does not always prevent the loose and foul smelling stools, which are my primary symptoms. Also, I take about 7 or 8 medications every day. Is it possible that certain medications, either alone or in combinations, may cause celiac disease? My appetite is excellent and my weight has been essentially constant while these symptoms have been experienced. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions.
