What Causes Burning Sensation In Mouth And Sticky Feel On Lips?

hello, i am a 50 yr old female. i had itchy and burning mouth. i went to dentist and he said there was no lesions, looked like burning mouth syndrome. i reside in az, dry climate. i was given information regarding this and it could be hormone changes, vit b def. I took a b complex and zinc yesterday and i do have a lil less burning. my question is why are my lips kind of sticky feeling? thanks

Can understand your concern..

As per your symptoms of sticky feeling of lips it seems that dryness of mouth also known as Xerostomia can be a potent cause of burning mouth as sticking of lips occurs due to dryness of mouth which causes thinning or atrophy of oral mucous membranes, sticky feeling due to insufficient lubrication by saliva,burning sensation in mouth, increased susceptibility to infections.
Dryness of mouth can occur due to a number of reasons like Diabetes, Autoimmune diseases like Sjogren's Syndrome, Damage to salivary glands, Some medicines, Nerve damage, Infections etc.

Other reasons for burning mouth syndrome can be nutritional deficiency, fungal infection in mouth, allergies, lichen planus etc.

I would suggest you to consult a General physician so that he can do a clinical checkup and necessary pathological investigations to find out the exact cause of your problem..

You should take any treatment only after the correct diagnosis is made..
