What Causes Burning Sensation And Itching In The Vagina?

I have chronic burning and itching of the vagina. This started when I had an ovary removed in 2012 due to a benign tumor on an ovary that was not removed during a hysterectomy, as it was considered healthy. However, I do not feel that this ailment started 5 years ago. I have seen Doctors and Specialists - no help. Then I saw a Doctor who performed the Mona Lisa Touch which all but guaranteed success, which *I have seen advertised in different periodicals - not only was that not successful, it was not covered by medical insurance, which made it even worse. It was on a cash basis, and if I remember correctly, it was a three visit treatment every six weeks. It was a lose, lose situation. As you can see, it is 1:30 in the morning, and I cannot sleep due to this chronic itch. I have been on clobetesol and estrace. Absolutely no help. By the way, I am 73 years old, and I will take any assistance you can offer. Thank you. Stephanie Russo

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Your symptoms seems to be related to a yeast
infection.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-You can use an antifungal cream, or a suppository that you put into your vagina,
-antifungal tablets that you swallow.
-Keep your vaginal area clean. Use mild, unscented soap and water. Rinse well.
-After using the toilet, wipe from front to back to avoid spreading yeast or bacteria from your anus to the vagina or urinary tract.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
Kindly regards,
Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
