What Causes Burning Sensation And Bruise On Knee After Injury?

Hello, I hit the side of my knee water skiing 6 days ago. It bruised and spread quickly. The bruise is fading now, but I have noticed today that a lump has formed where I hit it. It is itching a little and has a burning sensation. I m not rubbing it at all and have started taking aspirin. My family had a history of blood clots and and am concerned. Is there anything more I can do?
