What Causes Burning Nose Due To Cold?

I am at the tail end of a cold and I have noticed a hot or burning chlorine smell every time I blow my nose. It feels like my nose is burning for at least 2-3 minutes after I blow it. My ears also keep popping when I blow my nose. That is unusual for me

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding burning in nose during severe cold.

I woild like to tell you that in severe cold and in allergic disorders whenever there is watery nasal discharge, so everybody wants to clear the nose either by blowing or sniffing. By the repeated sniffing nasal mucosa gets rubbed and congested and starts giving burning sensation.

During repeared sneezing and clearence of nose by partially blocking the nostril there developes positive pressure in the nose and nasopharynx which is sufficient to push nasal secretions to middle ear through eustachian tube. The collection in middle ear gives you popping and fullness in ear.

Regards.
