General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Burning and stinging pain is unlikely to be due to the hernia. The major concern here is the possibility of shingles (herpez zoster), which is viral infection. It initially presents with burning pain followed by redness and appearance of blisters. Initiating antiviral therapy (valacyclovir) early can reduce duration and severity of pain. Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider for confirming the diagnosis and appropriate management.
Meanwhile, apply ice on the area of pain and take Tylenol.
