What Causes Burning And Itching Sensation Around Rectum And Vagina?

About a month ago, I had to have an abscess treated between my rectum and my vaginal area, more on the buttock cheek. Antibiotics allowed it to drain well. A surgeon looked at it and recommended the antibiotic vs. surgery. I have had a fistula in the area for many years -but no major flare ups until now. I am 51 year old female. This weekend, it started burning and itching and becoming inflamed again. I finally looked at it with a mirror, which I hadn t done at all, and I was surprised to see a red inflamed butt cheek with a 2 inch elongated bruise with an open sore on 1 end. I took a hot bath and used Neosporin on it,and it has since drained (mainly thick blood). It feels better now and may be healing -but what the heck is this? Is this normal with fistula?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that you got fistula in ano leading to few sinuses formation loaded with pus.
With use of only antibiotic is not going to help and you might require surgery with opening of all sinuses.
Consult surgeon and get examined.
Avoid constipation.
Keep local hygiene proper.
Ok and take care.
