What Causes Burning After Injecting Meth?

Hi, I am a meth user and i do it by injection. This morning i injected myself and the needle moved and it started burning. I repositioned the needle and finished my shot, it kept burning and shortly afterwards i developed a blood blister at the injection site. The area around the blister is swollen and very firm to the touch, and has bruised the area. What can i do about this situation? Is there anything i can put on it to take the swelling down and make the bruising go away? Signed Foolish Woman

Hi,

The burning is due to extravasation of the drug into the surrounding tissues. Try applying hot compress every few hours. It will hasten up the healing. If the swelling persists, it will be better to see a doctor. You may need a course of antibiotics if infection sets in.

Best wishes.
