What Causes Bumps On The Back Of My Tongue And Sore Throat?

I went to the doctor about bumps on the back of my tongue and tonsils were like they were sore. It seemed as if drainage was going in the back on my throat. He took a culture test and it came back negative. He gave me zyertec and ibuprofen. I've been doing research and realized it is circumvalate papillae. Is their anything I can do?

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain in case if you have sore throat and swollen bumps at the back of tongue along with post nasal drip that is drainage down the throat can be due to a few causes like Upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, throat infection, acid reflux etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.
The swollen bumps over back of tongue seems to be most probably circumvallate papillae as they are close to throat and infection in throat can lead to its inflammation and swelling..
Nothing to worry, you can continue taking Ibuprofen and zyrtec and along with it take antibiotics like Cephexine and Augmentin..
Along with it do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and avoid hot and spicy food..
Drink plenty of water and maintain a good oral hygiene..
