Hi, I came back from punta Cana with a rash on my arm that then spread all over (looks like hives). Went to a doc and he said take Benadryl. The rashes are going away but I am not bruising in those areas. I am 13 weeks pregnant and am on low dose aspirin (high risk) so is that why I am bruising?
Hi, In pregnancy, the vascularity of the peripheries is enhanced. In addition, as you had the allergy, there is increased blood supply to the area. Finally, Aspirin leads to bruising by preventing coagulation due to its anti-platelet effect. This action, beneficial in maintaining good blood supply to fetus in high-risk pregnancies, is harmful as it can cause prolonged bleeding of the gums, peripheries etc. After consulting your doctor, you may stop the medication for a few days until the bruising subsides. Topical applications are also helpful. Hope this helps.
