What Causes Bruises On Lower Arm And Wrist After Alcohol Intake?

I am an almost 64 year old female in good health, tall (5 7 & 120 lbs). I drink wine every night. Occasionally, a nasty bruise will appear on my lower arm, right near my wrist. I have very skinny arms. Both of my parents (mom is almost 87 and dad is 91, as is his twin sister) both mom and dad have heart disease. Both have pacemakers and dad quadruple bypass about 20 years ago,mom had 2 stents about 6 years ago. Any suggestions?

Hello ma'am and welcome to HCM
Since you have not mentioned any personal history of heart disease, Diabetes, High BP etc, do note that these may indirectly cause symptoms of bruising and skin changes.
In your case age can be a common reason as the skin and its blood vessels become very fragile and can bleed on slight pressure, possibly due to exercise, tight jewellery or a wrist watch.etc
Are you on any blood thinners, aspirin etc? or any other medication?
Do you see bruises elsewhere?
I suggest you check your blood levels for anemia, diabetes and cholesterol levels as well as liver function. And if you haven't recently visited your GP, do go in for a general wellness check, given your family history.
If the bruises are symptomatic, with itching, burning or pain, do see a dermatologist to rule out vascular diseases.
As of now, when you have bruises, you can apply thrombophob ointment. They will otherwise resolve by itself.
Hope this helps. Always better to check when bruises are repititive.
