What Causes Bruised Right Eyelid Like A Black Eye?

Good morning, Dr. Meyer. This morning I woke up with the inner upper eyelid of my right eye bruised and it extends all the way into my inner eye socket and looks like a black eye. I remember no trauma to it, and it does not itch nor is it painful. I have a doctor s appt. on Monday for a yearly check up, but I wondered if I should have it checked earlier than that. Hello and welcome to HCM,
Bruising of eye lid is most often caused by trauma.
It is unusual to have bruised eye lid without any history of trauma.
I suggest you to consult your doctor for clinical assessment.
Fractures of skull bones can also cause bleeding and seeping of blood in the eye-lids.
A prompt consultation with our doctor is required for further work up.

Thanks and take care
