What Causes Bruise On Varicose Vein?

Hi, a few days ago I felt a bump on my varicose vein, so I rubbed/scratched on it and I felt a burning sensation, then I looked and saw a bruise...I assume my vein burst. It's healing and the bruise is fading...should I leave it at that or talk to a doc?

I am Dr Fahim and I welcome you to HCM for your health concerns
Today I will be looking into your Query . . .

I have gone through your question and understood your concerns. You had Varicose Veins and now a bruise developed over it, which may leads to Leg Ulcer, which is a complication of varicose vein and both the bruise along with varicose veins needs treatment immediately.
Varicose vein is treated by Vascular Surgeon and by General Surgeon with special interest in varicose veins. Treatment options include Ultrasound guided Foam Sclerotherapy, Endovenous Radio-frequency Ablation, Laser Ablation. These above mentioned techniques require special equipment and are performed by only Vascular Surgeon, so these are quite expensive. Another treatment option which is LIGATION AND STRIPPING of the varicose vein. Its relative simple and cost effective option. This is performed by almost every General Surgeon.

I hope I answered your Question well. Please rate my answer if you like it and feel free to ask any further Questions.

General Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar Goyal 's  Response
It seems that your vein was partially injured due to forceful rubbing.Chances of injuring varicose vein are more as compared to normal vein. You must consult a surgeon fir the treatment of varicose veins.
