General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for asking Healthcare majic.
My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah &
I have gone through your query.

first of all, its good news for you
when the wound starts to itch
since
it indicates that wound healing/ new tissue formation is in progress

There are two main reasons for this Itch

1) Histamine :

A chemical released in response to wounds which attracted tissue generating components to the wound site and accelerates the healing process

2) nerve fibers :

Which can also be activated by chemicals secreted by the body, because of this wound healing causes itching also

Now

How to deal with this condition

I). Avoid scratching

since
Scratching a wound that is trying to heal can cause damage to the
new tissue that has grown to replace and repair the damaged tissue.

another important aspect is that it can slow the healing process,
which leaves your body susceptible to wound infection longer
and can result in excessive scarring of the wound which will be cosmetically not good in the future.

Additionally,
it can cause potentially harmful bacteria on the hands to transfer to the wound,
again putting you at a higher risk of developing infection.

What to do then?

2). Try wrapping the wound with gauze—snugly but not tightly. Light pressure on an itchy wound often alleviates the discomfort

3). Prepare a solution that you can apply to the wound.
Common poultices for an itching wound include
baking soda, Epsom salts and solution of hydrogen peroxide. Make certain the water is quite hot

if this solution contains powder then dissolve it completely

Soak your wash cloth in the solution until it is completely saturated, then wring out the cloth until it's damp

Press the cloth firmly against the wound until the cloth cools. Repeat as necessary

4). Medications

which you can used orally or for wound locally (Caladryl anti itch lotion)

for pain relief :
Use aspirin, ibuprofen or acetaminophen available over the counter

for Itch relief:
Benadryl is a good example of an over-the-counter antihistamine.
remember that antihistamines often cause drowsiness, and stick to the recommended dosage

Hope this may help you. kindly write a review & Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
