What Causes Brownish Vaginal Discharge After Taking Microgynon?

I am 45 and take microgynon, have done on and off since aged 16, (5 children) for the 1st time ever I have discharge which is brownish as if I am about to menstruate but this is not due for another week. I have not missed any pills, been on anti biotics or been ill at all. Could it be a sign of early menopause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, I really appreciate your concern. Brownish vaginal discharge could be due to hormonal imbalance going on in your body due to pre-menopause. You are in peri-menopausal age group so there is high likelihood of having irregular periods. So there is nothing to worry because what you are experiencing is a normal phenomenon.
Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care.
Thank you.
