What Causes Brownish And Yellowish Vaginal Discharge

I have this brownish and yellowish discharge for some time now. I am 56 years old. I went to the gyn nurse practitioner and had a pelvic exam, cotton swab and everything is normal. but I don t feel that way and what should I do.. I have met a man and we are ready to have sex and I feel awkward

Hi

Any discoloration in the vaginal discharge needs to be explored for sexually transmitted infections. I would recommend an STD-panel and a vaginal swab test for further evaluation and confirmation of the cause. In the meantime, make sure you avoid sexual contact until I say so, and make sure you change your inner wear regularly, shower daily and keep the region clean and dry at all times. This could be a simple infection but get the tests done and write back to me okay?
