What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge Post Depo Shot?

Hi, I had the depo injection on the 6th February while on a period, and then has slight bleeding on the 22nd February which lasted a week. I now have a foul smelling brown discharge that comes and goes. I m not due my second needle till the end of March? Will this go away and is it normal?

Hello dear,
Understand your concern

Following are side effects of depot shot:
1. Doesn’t protect against STDs
2.weight gain, tiredness, and possibly a decrease in bone density
3.very irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting.
So i think it is STDs as it is foul smelling.

Candida/yeast is most common after depot shot in presence of unprotected sexual intercourse
Yeast infection most common due to candidiasis.
Take the following advice for it
1. Single dose oral Diflucam, if not respon you can take three dose
2. Ointment trazol
3. Probiotic tablet orally/vaginally
4. Take yougort and balanced healthy diet
5. Boric acid suppository
6. Maintain hygiene
7. Wash your vagina with warm salt water 4-5 times in a day
8. Wear loose pure cotton inner wear
9.Keep the vagina clean (Not wet)

If necessary consult with gynecologist and do usg and full hormoone profile like LH, FSH, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid profile.
