What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge During Pregnancy?

Hello Doctor, We recently had an IVF/ICSI cycle and my wife is 6.4 weeks now. The last time we visited the doctor, that was on wednesday, the doctor confirmed twins and we saw the fetal heart beat for both. But one was slow. The first hcg value was around 580, second was around 1800, the third was around 6500, the fourth was around 7100. Today my wife complained of light brown discharge twice. Is this normal during this time? She is on gestone and Clexane inj. and also taking Ecosprin and folic acid tablets daily once.

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Spotting in early pregnancy can be due to:
1. Bleeding around the foetus( subchorionic haemorrhage)
2. Missed or threatened abortion
3. Ectopic pregnancy
Ectopic pregnancy is ruled out as your wife had ultrasound which showed twins.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get her properly examined, ultrasound done to confirm the cause of bleeding and get treated accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
