General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Experiencing brown vaginal discharge and abdominal cramps while on depo preparations for contraception are commonly due to side effects.
However, it would be better to evaluate what could be the cause by an ultrasound abdominal scan.
If things are normal, such symptoms need only symptomatic treatment and should eventually subside.
In case such symptoms increase in severity or there is appearance of fresh symptoms and continues to bother, there is need to reconsider the mode of contraception being used and change to the one which would suit on consultation with Gynecologist.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
