What Causes Brown Spotting Instead Of Regular Periods After Having Unsafe Sex?

Ok so Im on the pill but I had unprotected sex twice and forgot to take my pill 2 days in a row. I doubled up the next 2 days after missing and was supposed to start my period Monday but instead of a normal period that lasts like 5 days I just got brown spotting that pretty much stopped by the next day. I took a test the day after my period was supposed to come and it was negative but Ive been reading up and Im wondering if its to early to tell right now. What should I do??? I also just finished antibiotics for a UTI could this be the reason?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that your UTI and antibiotics may have affected your menstrual cycle.
Physical illness is one factor that can affect the period.

Because of the history of missed pills however, it is good that a pregnancy test was done.
If it was done 11 to 14 days after possible conception then the result is likely accurate.

If it was done before this time then it is better that it is repeated.

I hope this helps
