stool test about your 4 year old daughter and understood the concerns.
Presence of mucus means there is an irritation in the
colon.
Cysts of Giardia needs an active treatment and may be the cause of the mucus and
RBC in stool.
Since you have not mentioned the symptoms or the cause for the stool test, it is difficult for me to comment in detail further.
But to answer your specific question:
The causes are infestation through water or anything the child eats.
Hence you should see that the child gets boiled and cooled water as this only kills the Giardia.
No outside food at all, only homemade foods.
Paring of the nails and strictly washing the hands with soap and water after visiting the bathroom, returning from playground.
Appropriate management under the care of a
Pediatrician till cured.
Repeat stool test after the course of
metronidazole and management.
