What Causes Breathlessness While Walking?

I get shortness of breath when walking a very short distance. No chest pain. Have to sit for several minutes for breathing to return to normal. I have health issues but this is new in the last couple of weeks. It is annoying and I don t know why it s happening. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic....

Noted you have dyspnea on walking slight distance....

So here cardiac cause is very most likely.
If known case of hypertension then left ventricular failure can be there that can lead pulmonary edema and dyspnea....
Second if your calf swollen and history of deep vein thrombosis then rule put pulmonary embolism.....
For these ECG or ECHO will be best....

If no cardiac cause present then auscultation done and chest x ray needed for investigation....It will help in rule out respi cause.

With keeping this in mind immediately refer to your er.

Take care.
