What Causes Breathlessness In A Person With Spine Fracture?

I ve had upper stomach bloating continually for months along with breathlessness. In the past I ve had 4 spine fractures in L1 L2 T11 & T 12. I ve now been diagnosed with a herniated disc. I also have a hiatus hernia & volvulos in esophagus. Could breathlessness be due to back problems?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for asking on HealthcareMagic.com, providing better healthcare for you. A hiatal hernia occurs when part of your stomach pushes upward through your diaphragm - so this is why a large hiatal hernia causes breathlessness or shortness of breath. Also, a large hiatal hernia is commonly associated with heartburn and acid reflux, so I would prescribe Omeprazole 20mg half hour before the breakfeast. Surgical correction of hiatal hernia is generally reserved for emergency situations, which are rare, and for people who aren't helped by medications to relieve heartburn and acid reflux. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback and five star rating, to help me assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful too'.
