Hi. I am a 37 year old man who has been gasping for air lately. I also have been getting heart burn. I don t smoke so I am not sure why I m having this. I feel like I gasp for air 4-5 times a day. Any ideas why I might be having these symptoms? Thanks inadvance.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have problem of gasping for air . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like asthma , ataxic respiration , biot's respirations , chest trauma , metabolic acidosis , pulmonary oedema or respiratory failure .I would suggest you to consult pulmonologist for proper examination . Doctor may order chest x-ray , lung function test like vital capacity . Doctor may prescribe anti allergic , anti inflammatory along with antibiotics . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist in case of cardiac problem . For now take steam and apply warm compresses on chest .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
