What Causes Breathing Difficulty In A Child?

My 6 year old daughter has been doing this sniffle/snort thing for about four months, and it has now progressed into gasping for air frequently during the day. She does not wheeze, and it is not a sigh. She does snore when she sleeps as well. She says she feels like she can t breathe sometimes and like there is something in her nose, but when she blows her nose, nothing comes out. She is getting very self conscious about it, and I am very concerned about all of it. She is scheduled to have an endoscopy done soon, but I am curious what it could be prior to her appointment.

Hi, From the symptoms described, it is most likely tonsillitis probably Pharyngeal tonsillitis or 'Adenoids' that leads to snoring. Children often sleep with their mouth open and are sleep deprived. Early surgery is advised otherwise it may even alter shape of face. Regards
