What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Upper Abdominal Discomfort?

I occasionally feel as if my breathing isn t up to par , perhaps not getting enough air in my lungs. I also sometimes feel as if my diaphragm isn t pulling well with a nervous feeling in my upper abdomen. Can the diaphragm lessen in doing it s job or am I being paranoid? I am a 60-yr old male with at least average activity levels. Thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of breathing difficulty and upper abdominal discomfort which is most probably due to all of the changes taking place in your body such as electrolyte imbalance and due to underlying medical condition. The abdominal pain can also occur due to UTI consult urologist for it. I would suggest you to get up slowly and do not lie down right after eating , eat small meals or snacks often ,try not to skip meals. You should avoid intake of outside food. You should eat cold food instead of hot, as it may not smell as strongly , sniffing lemons or ginger can sometimes help an upset stomach. If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days the consult gynecologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug along with antibiotics . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist for problem like angina .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
