What Causes Breathing Difficulty After Barium Swallow Test?

I recently had a barium swallow test done and was told I have an intermittent hiatal hernia . When I swallow liquids it seems to not go down and I have passed out from something disrupting me getting oxygen . I look like I m having a seizure . The dr told me to take Prilosec and watch what I eat . I am more concerned with passing out from lack of oxygen and no one being around to help . What can I do ?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read your history and understood your concerns.
Since Barium is not absorbed it can not really cause any systemic reaction.
While doing swallow tests, it cannot really pass into the respiratory system, if it goes in can cause aspiration pneumonia and death.
Hence your problem looks to be exacerbation of asthma or so.
Please consult your Doctor
For clinical evaluation and treatment.
If required take a second opinion of a Pulmonologist and go for pulmonary function tests.
