What Causes Bradycardia With Intermittent Right-sided Chest Pain In An Elderly Person?
I am a 56 year old woman. I sometimes have bradycardia (if I take magnesium my hear rate returns to normal) Over the last week I have been experiencing intermittent sharp stabbing pain on the right side of my chest. It happens once or twice per day and lasts 1-3 seconds, then completely resolves. I do notice some tenderness in the joint between my ribs an sternum. Could this be the problem?
Chest pain can be related to any structure in the chest from the skin inwards. Since you have a history of heart disease, serious causes should be ruled out.
It is possible that the pain is related to tenderness that you are noticing, this may indicate inflammation of the underlying muscles or bones in the area. The use of anti inflammatory pain killers may help in that case eg ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen.
Sharp intermittent pain can also be due to nerve related causes as well. Nerve disease can be due to infection, trauma, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, vitamin b12 or folate deficiency.
I hope this helps
