What Causes Body Skin Not To Tan Or Change Color?

Up until a five years ago I could tan the same as anyone else in our family. Then about 4 yrs it started to get harder to tan. For the last two years I haven t changed even one shade. We even spent a week in vegas during the last week of July. I sat by the pool but still nothing! From April till September I live in shorts, and spend a lot of time outside gardening. Still nothing. Not even a mini tan line. I am in my 50 s. Female. Hysterectomy approx 10 yrs ago.

Tanning occurs due to oxidation of melanin pigment in the skin.The amount of tanning depends on your skin type and amount of sun exposure .Type 1 and typpe 2 skin types tend to burn rather than tan while type 3 and type 4 skin tend to tan more.
