What Causes Body Ache And Nausea After Taking Clindamycin?

Hello. I just started taking Clindamycin for a root canal I previously had, due to consistent tooth pain. Not sure if my symptoms are even related to the side effects of this medicine. But my body aches, I'm nauseous , I've had a headache despite taking ibuprofen for over 8 hours, dizzy, and just don't feel well. Is this due to Clindamycin? Should I ask the dentist for something different?

Thank you for your advice. I didn't want to waste a trip to the doctor.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if you have pain in previously root canal treated tooth, then it is probably due to re-infection in tooth and Clindamycin can reduce infection but will not help in immediate pain relief..

As far as symptoms of dizziness and nausea is concerned, it can be due to side effect of the antibiotic, however it can also be due to septicemia caused secondary to tooth infection.
But chances of side effect of medication is high..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can change the antibiotic to other groups like Penicillins and also advise you anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve pain..

You can also be advised re-root canal treatment of tooth for permanent resolution..

As of now take Paracetamol, diclofenac or Ibuprofen for moderate pain and in case if pain is severe ketorolac or Tramodol can be taken..
Do cool compresses on the cheek..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
