What Causes Blood Spotting While On Depo Birth Control?

Hi, I just today had a Depo birth control shot for the first time and had unprotected sex 9 hours later. I was on Gildess birth control pills and stopped using them today. My regular period should ve started in 3 days but the gyno went ahead and gave me the shot because I was spotting. Could I be pregnant?

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com!

I really appreciate your concern. Spotting is a side effect of depot birth control shots. You were using contraceptive pills till date and after that you have depot shot. If you were taking pills regularly then there is no chances of pregnancy in your case. So be relaxed.
Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care.

Thank you.

Best Regards.
Dr. Manan
