What Causes Blood In Urine With Lower Back Pain?

My boyfriend has blood (non visible) in his urine but no proteins or signs of infection. He has pain in his lower back and just at the line of the hips in the groin. How long should a referral to hospital take? And what possible conditions could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for your beloved boyfriend.

After having gone through the history given in your query, I am of the opinion that he is most likely to be suffering from stones in the urinary tract responsible for the appearance of blood in the urine.

He should be examined by a urologist and he may need a KUB x ray and an abdominal ultrasound to confirm the presence of stones.

Meanwhile ask to him to take plenty of oral fluids, NSAID pain killer (Diclofenace) with an antispasmodic (Dicyclomine) to treat the painful colic that he may develop.

Hope to have answered your query.
