What Causes Blood In Urine And Stool, Lower Back Pain And Weakness?

I m sitting with my girlfriend, age 31, who has experienced the following issues this week: blood in her urine, steady pain in her lower back, is tired, hasn t felt well all week and today had blood in her stool. Is it likely that if she gets rest and hydrates that this will pass?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the health problems your girlfriend is going through.

Blood in urine is suggesting stones in the urinary tract associated with infection. Lower back and tiredness are also signs of UTI and urinary stones.

Urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound , and complete blood count highly recommended to determine the right cause.

Blood in stool could be due to hemorrhoids or perhaps anal sex you had.

She needs immediate medical consultation with her physician first and run the advised tests to determine the right diagnosis.
After that, can set the treatment strategy:
- increase fluids intake
- take cranberry supplement
- take spasmex or buscopan for the pain
- prescription meds by the doctor (antibiotics and analgesics)

Wish fast recovery.
