What Causes Blood In Urine And Pain During Urination While Suffering From UTI?
Hi, I have blood in my urine (pink/red) and it hurts really bad to pee, urgency, frequency. I m 26 female and get UTIs frequently though usually don t have blood. Can I wait to see my doctor tomorrow and take the over the counter phenazopyridine hydrochloride or do I need to go to the emergency room?
Blood may be seen in urine (hematuria)in a case of UTI. However, hematuria may be due to many other causes like genito-urinary calculus, tumour etc. In your case, blood in urine is most likely due to UTI as you are presently suffering from it. You may need clinical evaluation and few investigations. Investigations include routine hemogram, random blood sugar, renal function test, ultrasound of KUB and urine culture and sensitivity.
You may need specific medicines based on culture and sensitivity report. You should drink plenty of water. You may also need alkalizing syrup.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
