What Causes Blood In The Urine?

Hi my husband drinks daily, usually beer or brandy, he has also been wetting the bed for at least a year now. It's not every day he wets the bed but certainly way more than a grown man should. He recently had a urine test done that indicated he has blood in his urine. I am wondering if the two are related, any ideas?
