What Causes Blood In Stools With IBS?

Hi, I have been having bloody stools off and on for a while now. The other day after drinking some well water, I ran to the bathroom and had diarrhea. I noticed it was completely red. The water was completely red. What could this be? I also noticed yesterday, after using the bathroom, I had little blood with this red string, toothpick looking things in my stool. I have had many hard stools before this happened. I also have Ibs. What could this be?
