What Causes Blood In Stool?

I just defecated a while ago. And as I was done, I noticed that there's something red in the bowl, when I took a good look at it, it looks like blood to me. My last bowel movement was 4-5 days ago. I have had this kind of defecating pattern since I ca remember, but sometimes I pass stools everyday.I have many assumptions for this. It could be my period or it could be because I have eaten a lot of red foods today. I do not have abdominal pain at the moment, but yesterday I had low back pain, but it was just a sec. I have been diagnosed with gastric ulcer before. What could possibly be wrong?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Since you have constipation off and on the bleeding in stool can be due to fissure in ano, colitis, impacted fecoliths getting partial separation to cause bleeding, polyps and so on.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways only.
Send the stool sample for tests including that of occult blood.
Upper GI Endoscopy to review the gastric ulcers and acidity related problems as you have mentioned these.
Colonoscopy including proper ano=proscopy to see for the reasons for blood in stool, biopsy may be needed.
Take a laxative daily to avoid constipation and make changes in diet that can help avoid constipation.
Take high fiber diet and take plenty of oral fluids.
Once diagnosed the proper cause, the management will be according to the cause thus found.
