What Causes Blood In Stool While Taking Ibuprofen?

I have been using ibuprofen 800mg since Dec 5, 2015 as prescribed. Today I started having bloody stools which I noticed is a side effect of taking ibuprofen 800 mg. I will call my doctor in the morning, but will also stop taking the ibuprofen. Is this the best course of action?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have blood in stool while taking Ibuprofen. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like ulcers , constipation or piles , but in your case ir seems to me that the symptoms are probably due to ibuprofen as its side effects . Ibuprofen is known to cause rectal bleeding or ulcers as its side effects . I would suggest you to consult doctor who prescribed this medicine . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute. For now take some probiotic food and drink plenty of water . Also eat fresh fruits and vegetables which can act as laxative .
