What Causes Blood In Stool While Having IBS?

Hi, I have had IBS for over 20 years. I am careful about what I eat. My symptoms are less than they used to be. I rarely get any pain and if I do it s similar to low down period cramps, but hardly nothing at all. I get loud wind sometimes. Last year there were two occasions when I saw bright red blood on the toilet tissue and on the stool. I had no pain at those times and put it down to straining previously to have a bowel movement. What has worried me a little is that this morning I had a bowel movement and there was bright red blood on the tissue and what looked like a lot in the toilet bowl. I had no pain. Should I have this investigated? The thought of any internal investigations terrifies me!

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, IBS is more or less is functional disorders and not the pure form of pathology and symptom of it goes on variation from patients to patients, if the stool found blood stain then it need to be sent for lab investigation and along with that rectal examination is must hope this information helps.
