What Causes Blood In Stool When Diagnosed With IBS?

Last Thursday night, I had a bowel movement. The movement was easy; no straining. Upon finishing, I discovered that the water in the toilet bowl was bright red from blood. When I wiped, the toilet tissue was also red from blood. This is the third or fourth time it has happened this year. Should I make an appointment with my doctor? I have not been diagnosed with hemorrhoids, but I have been diagnosed with IBS-D. Should I be concerned about this? Thank you for your help.

Hi welcome to health care magic....

You are having fresh blood in stool after defecation...That mostly suggest toward lower intestinal bleeding ...

The cause has to be ruled out like ...
-Piles
-Proctitis
-Anal fissure
-Polyp
-Cancer growth
-Rectal ulcer
-IBD etc..

For that you have to consult surgeon for proctoscopy examination first which is OPD based procedure ...
According to cause further treatment guided ...
If needed than stool examination , colonoscopy like procedure done

Meanwhile avoid excess spicy foods...
Drink more water ...
