What Causes Blood In Stool And Lower Abdominal Pain?
my husbands bowels are severely impacted so I gave him an over the counter magnesium citrate oral solution....Now his anus in hanging way to the outside and hes in severe pain!!!and just inside hin anus there is blood and also in his stool...hes complaing with the lower abdomen and hes cant sit he has to lay....what could be causing this ,,,???? please help!!thanke u ,donetta

In most cases, causes of bleeding through rectum are benign and include hemorrhoids, anal fissure or rectal polyps. These are primarily treated with stool softener, diet and sitzbaths. If there is no improvement in next few weeks, then surgical management should be considered. Other causes may be more serious and include tumors or inflammatory bowel diseases and these should be ruled out with colonoscopy which must be done if there is low blood count present or rapid weight loss. Otherwise, yiu can see if conservative therapy will help and consult proctologist if necessary.
