Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have blood in my semen. It is quite dark (brown), sometimes with some red blood as well. It has persisted for 2-3 months now. Lab tests show no infection or blood in my urine. Is it ok for me to ejaculate and have intercourse with my wife while this condition persists? I have a referral to a urologist, but it may take 2 or 3 months to see him.
You have not mentioned your age in your query . The hematospermia (Blood in semen) has to be dealt with seriously and investigated to look for source of blood . It may be any where from the urethra to testicles .prostate ,seminal vesicle .
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to establish the source of bleeding . 1) Blood coagulation profile 2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis 3) Urine routine and culture 4) Semen examination and semen culture.
In the mean while You need to take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefixime along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily.
Thanks Dr.Patil.
