What Causes Blood Clot In My Throat

I woke up this morning with a blood clot where the nose meets the throat (pharynx, i think?). I managed to sort of work them out of the passage and into my mouth (Gross). There were two small lumps of old, de-oxygenated blood (black). I assume the reason for two was for two nostrils. I recently have gotten over a pretty bad cold, where I used nasal spray to suppress my symptoms. Please help, I am kinda worried.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, you seem to be right in assuming that your nose is the culprit for the blood clot. Dryness and crusting in nose usually leads to bleeding from nose and if it is slight oozing this can collect and come out later as a clot. This is more common when you have or are recovering from cold. Please use a lubricant like liquid paraffin as drops in nose and also to monitor your blood pressure as this can also contribute to it. In case the problem persists, see an ENT. Regards
