What Causes Blood Clot And White Tissue Growth After Tooth Removal?

I got my back molar pulled today. As I was biting down on the gauze, a couple hours later, a tiny blood clot was pulled from my extraction site. I m not in pain however now there is white tissue forming in the extraction site. Is this normal? I had a dry socket with my right molar but I don t remember what happened. Only that it hurt like crazy. I put a message in for the dentist but he won t get back to me until tomorrow and I just need peace of mind. Thank you!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can very well understand your health concerns..

As per your complain if you have a white tissue forming in the extraction socket then it seems to be most probably from the remodelling of the blood clot that is being converted into healing tissue and it is leading to filling up the socket which will help in healing of the socket..

If the socket is filled with white tissue then there is no dry socket as in dry socket the extraction socket looks empty and there is red, raw and inflamed walls of socket with severe pain and bad breath..

Do not worry as it does not seems to be any problem and also the healing seems appropriate..
You should however go for a clinical examination after 3 days of extraction and as of now take proper medications like antibiotics and painkillers and also avoid sucking anything with a straw or smoking..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
