My mother in law has bright red blood in the toilet after urinating but no pain. She says it started this morning. it doesn t seem to be mixed with the urine and was red on the toilet paper. I couldn t see any cuts or lesions. She is on warfarin but has never had this before. Should I take her to the emergency or book an appointment tomorrow with ther gp? thanks
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist, let me advise you that, painless bleeding in the urine is not normal. She must stop Warfarin immediately. She must see a doctor urgently. If possible, go with reports of urine routine, INR, blood sugar, creatinine and an ultrasound scan of the abdomen, to start treatment earlier. Wishing her good health.
