What Causes Blood After Passing Stools?

My friend complained this morning of blood on the toilet paper after his bowel movement. He s 29 and seems to be in relatively good health. He did say that it was quite a bit of blood, but I don t know what his definition of that would be. He said he felt fine and hasn t had any other symptoms. He doesn t have any health insurance and is reluctant to seek medical attention. Is this something that would be safe to monitor for a couple of days to see if it reoccurs?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Bleeding from the anus, or rectal bleeding, is a very common symptom. Up to 15% of adults have seen blood on their toilet paper.
As a general rule, bright red blood means that the bleeding has come from the area around the anus. If the blood is darker, it usually means that its origin is a bleed higher up the digestive tract.
Bleeding can be due to following reasons
1. Hemorrhoids( piles) is most common reason. They are swollen blood vessels in the rectum or anus.
2.Anal fissures- a tear sometimes caused due to hard stool passage
3.Infection of intestines
4.Rarely it might be colon cancer
If problem persists, you should visit a Gastroenterologist

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved.
