What Causes Blockage In The Ear?

I awoke yesterday with a blocked right ear. I have had my ears cleaned out before and used some olive oil (could get no ear drops) to try and clear it. There seems to be no wax build up. I now have mild pain and tinnitus in the ear. I have performed the valsalva maneuver and when I do it clears but then becomes blocked again. I have chewed gum and submerged my ear in hot water. I have drank glass upon glass of water with my head titled back. Nothing seems to clear it for more than a few seconds.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Try saline nose drops and do daily steam inhalations with tincture of benzoin. While doing Valsalva, avoid excessive pressure. If there is no relief after a week get an ENT check up done.
